For curtain walls, windows and doors, Vietnam's aluminium-and-glass sector has scaled fast — and the 2024 numbers show both the opportunity and the pressure points a facade buyer should price in.

Production capacity

  • Aluminium output: ~1.5 million tonnes in 2024, worth ~US$4.2 billion, up ~14.5% on 2023.
  • Over the past decade, the sector's factory count, capacity and total output have roughly doubled — this is a maturing, export-capable base.
  • Caveat with an upside: rising industrial electricity tariffs in 2024 compressed margins, and some smelting/extrusion plants ran at just 30–40% utilization. For a buyer, spare capacity is negotiating leverage.

Top manufacturers

The aluminium & glass field includes Global Vietnam Aluminum (GVA), Daiki Aluminium, Press Metal, and Sapa Bến Thành (Sapa BTG), alongside the state-linked Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group. For architectural glass, Vietnam has domestic float, Low-E and processing (tempering/lamination) capacity feeding both local projects and exports.

Export data (recent)

  • Aluminium exports run across semi-finished and finished forms — sheet, extrusion and profile.
  • Glass exports are projected around US$1.5 billion, growing ~3.4% a year.

What it means for project buyers

The value is in systems, not kilos. A window or curtain-wall package lives or dies on details that a per-tonne price hides:

  • Alloy & temper (e.g. 6063-T5) and wall thickness to the structural calc.
  • Coating: powder-coat vs. anodized, to the right AAMA class for the climate (coastal/high-UV needs the higher class).
  • Glass make-up: Low-E coating, laminated and/or tempered, with the thermal (U-value/SHGC) and safety certificates.

Get the system's test reports (air/water/structural, e.g. AAMA/ASTM or EN) before you commit — for hurricane or high-rise projects this is non-negotiable.
