Building materials from Vietnam, for US & Canadian projects

For American and Canadian buyers, Vietnam's appeal is arithmetic: genuine Vietnamese origin sidesteps the Section 301 surcharge and the antidumping duties stacked on Chinese-origin tile, quartz, plywood and aluminium β€” and even under the 2025 US framework's 20% reciprocal line, it typically still lands cheaper. The catch is that the origin has to be provable.

The tariff position

20% reciprocal β€” still under the China stack

There is no US–Vietnam FTA, so imports pay MFN plus the framework's 20% reciprocal rate. But Chinese origin carries Section 301 (25%) plus antidumping/countervailing duties that run 40% to 300%+ on tile, quartz, plywood and aluminium. The delta usually covers freight and QC before any manufacturing-cost difference.
